Rita (Thorpe) Hapenney, of Marshfield, died March 2, in the Golden Living Center in Plymouth, at the age of 97. Wife of the late Walter Hapenney. Sister-in-law of John and Joyce Hapenney and Katherine Hapenney, all of Marshfield. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Rita was born in Boston. She was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII. Rita was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and The Presidential Testimonial. A funeral service was held at the MacDonald Funeral Home, l755 Ocean St., Rte. l39, Marshfield on Tuesday, March 8, at l2 noon. Visiting was held from 11:30 to 12:00 prior to the service.
