Longtime Duxbury Resident, John Joseph O'Leary dies at 79.
John Joseph O'Leary was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 22, 1933, the son of Vincent D. O'Leary and Agnes Keaveny.
Mr. O'Leary was a (double eagle), graduate of Boston College High School and Boston College.
He had over forty years in the retail industry. Mr. O'Leary's career began with senior management positions with nationally known retail chains, Jordan Marsh, Filene's, as well as the parent company Federated Stores. In later years, he was a retail management consultant for Retail Systems & Services.
Mr. O'Leary was a voracious reader, history enthusiast, as well as an Anglophile. A true New Englander, he loved the Red Sox and The Patriots. Most of all, he adored his grandchildren and children.
Mr. O'Leary leaves his children, Christopher O'Leary of Duxbury and Heather Pooley of Hingham, and two grandchildren Alexander and Christian, as well as his sister, Agnes O'Brien of Marshfield.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at Mayflower Cemetary, in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Friends and family are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name, to the Duxbury Free Library.
